Summary: The aim of the paper is to present a methodological aspect of research on convention bureaux’ roles in the meetings industry. The online survey was conducted among almost 300 cities listed in the ICCA’s ranking. Convention bureau managers were asked about the tasks of every convention bureau and the performance of their own institution. Every task was incorporated into one of the main five roles of convention bureau: an agent, a coordinator, a leader, a representative, and a marketer. The research method was based on the IPA (Importance-Performance Analysis).
